Folding for a cause
Folding cranes is a traditional Japanese art form known as origami, symbolizing peace, hope, and healing. The crane, revered in Japanese culture as a mystical creature that lives for a thousand years, is often folded in large numbers—especially in sets of 1,000, called senbazuru. According to legend, folding 1,000 paper cranes grants the folder a wish or brings good fortune. Today, they’re commonly created to honor loved ones, support healing, or promote peace, often strung together and displayed in temples, memorials, or homes
